Title: born OK the first time
“ For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh), dwell with no good thing: For who Will is present with me; but how to perform that is good I find not. “-Romans 17:18
As I was driving up the road one day a car passed me with his bumper sticker “I was born OK the first time. I wrote it down and began to ponder on the thought. I thought “how foolish “as we see the condition of mankind.
Someone said “if you were born once, you were born into the devils family; if you were born twice, you were born into God‘ s family. “Even if we had no knowledge of God or His word, every human being must know that there is something drastically wrong with our first birth: the inherited genes, certain diseases passed onto each generation, the way we age, weakness that comes with age, loss of I site, loss of hearing, then eventually loss of life. Does it sound like we were “born OK the first time?”
In John chapter 3, there is a religious ruler, Nicodemus, we realize that he was not born OK the first time, when he asked the question “how can I, a man be born when he is old? “ Perhaps as he taught the law, he was plagued with evil thoughts and even felt as the Apostle Paul felt in Romans – 7:19-20. Jesus told Nicodemus “you must be born again, “the first birth is not good enough.
Paul cried “oh wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from the body of this death? “(verse 24). He was saying “the first birth was not good enough; I have a dying corrupt body that was born in sin. “As pointed out in -Psalm 51:5.
Man is not born OK the first time, the new birth is a must and comes only through Jesus Christ. “But thanks be to God, which gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ “–
I Corinthians 15:7.
