The Table: Xmas Salt Dough Ornaments….

I will post this recipe several times before the holidays.  It is one of my most memorable times with my children and the children of our neighborhood.  We would spend the day with Christmas or any cookie cutters and salt dough making memories for our Christmas Tree. You can use markers or paint to let the kids beautify.  We liked to put glitter and other sprinkle stuff on some as well.  When dry we spray with clear coat spray and let dry again.
While the ornaments bakes we played games and snacked on real Christmas Cookies and Treats. I hope you make some good memories too….
Salt Ornaments Dough
Ingredients
4 Cups All-Purpose Flour
1 Cup Salt
1 1/2 Cups Water
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).
  2. Combine the flour, salt and water; mix well and knead for 10 minutes. Roll out on a lightly floured surface.
  3. Cut into desired shapes and make holes for hanging. You may want to poke the backs with toothpicks a little to keep from puffing. Bake for 30 minutes; allow to cool.
  4. Decorate with poster paints or tube paints. Allow to dry and spray with clear polyurethane on both sides to preserve. Use ribbon or yarn pieces to hang.
