Today’s Thought: Build a Child….

THE WISE WOMAN BUILDS HER HOUSE, BUT WITH HER OWN HANDS THE FOOLISH ONE TEARS HERS DOWN.

PROVERBS 14:1

A mother is a powerful influence over her children. We can build up or tear down our families with our words and actions. Left to ourselves, it would be a terrible mess. However, God gives us grace in abundance when we seek His face. He’s faithful to His word and will provide all the tools necessary for a Christian mother to raise her children if she puts her trust in Him. How can we B.U.I.L.D. up our children?

B – Be a good example (1 Corinthians 11:1).
Spiritually: Pray for and with our children so they can see the results. Results matter!
Emotionally: Consider how we handle our emotions. Are we demonstrating fear or faith when trials happen?
Physically: Take care of our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit by eating right and getting exercise.

U – Use God’s word strategically (Hebrews 4:12).
Spiritually: Make God’s word a reality to our children by living what we read.
Emotionally: Incorporate God’s word for answers to our children’s emotions and problems.
Physically: Practice memorization of God’s word daily, and give rewards for their efforts.

I – Involve ourselves in their lives (James 2:15-17).
Spiritually: Get involved in their spiritual walk instead of leaving it up to people in the church.
Emotionally: Listen to what our children are saying, and pray for discernment on our answers to them.
Physically: Utilize physical activities (cooking, exercising, playing games, etc.) as much as possible.

L – Learn as much as we can about good parenting (2 Timothy 2:15).
Spiritually: Take in from the Scriptures, teachings at church, and leading of the Holy Spirit about parenting.
Emotionally: Seek out godly role models for our children and mentors for us to help us in our parenting.
Physically: Join care groups that offer opportunities to help us be better parents.

D – Determine in our hearts to never give up on them (Galatians 6:9).
Spiritually: Never, never, never stop praying for our children.
Emotionally: Express our love to them every day in the way that they will know they are loved.
Physically: Start family events or traditions to increase family unity and togetherness.

PRAYER

Dear Lord, I need Your wisdom and strength to be the parent You call me to be. Help me to walk in ways of righteousness and faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, amen.
