I WOULD HAVE LOST HEART, UNLESS I HAD BELIEVED THAT I WOULD SEE THE GOODNESS OF THE LORD IN THE LAND OF THE LIVING.
There are days when things seem very wrong. We question God’s faithfulness, or we wonder if we are being punished for something. When we are in the trenches of a trial, it’s difficult to believe that one day it will be better. We can lose sight of the fact that even if we lose a spiritual battle every now and then, we’ve already won the war.
The psalmist recounts in Psalm 27 how he is at conflict from the outside with enemies and abandoned by his family members. He is accused by false witnesses as well. It’s a tough time of his life, yet his heart stays strong in the Lord because he believes in God’s goodness while he is still alive.
The Lord has a way of showing His goodness and grace, not only for us when we get to heaven but even right now on Earth. He reveals His goodness by blessing us with His comforting presence and sustaining joy. He reveals His grace by providing strength, wisdom, and courage that we didn’t even know we had. He keeps us even when we want to do the wrong things.
Great days are ahead for those who put their trust in God. Even though we may not see or understand how this can happen, our faith in God moves us forward. We can’t give up or lose hope because the Lord will give us all things according to His will. He meets our needs and guards our path along the way.
We aren’t abandoned by God. Instead, we are richly loved and provided with everything we need to show His glory to a lost world.
Dear Lord, in spite of my current troubles, I believe in Your goodness for my life. Keep my eyes on You and not my situations. In Jesus’ name, amen.
